Chapter 01
Why the pad matters
A condenser lives or dies on a few inches of concrete or composite. Set the pad level, keep the clearance right around the cabinet, and route the line set and disconnect cleanly, and the unit runs the way it was built to run. Let the pad settle or tilt even a little and the compressor starts working at an angle it was never designed for.
That tilt shows up first as noise, a rattle or a hum that wasn't there the year before, and then as wear: bearings and mounts taking load they shouldn't, refrigerant lines under a strain they weren't laid out for. A service call that starts as "it's gotten loud" often traces straight back to a pad that moved. We check it as part of every AC visit, not just when someone calls about a noise.

We repair before we recommend replacing, on whatever brand is already bolted to the pad. That includes units old enough that the manufacturer has stopped making parts for them. Nancy Brennan's review describes exactly that job: a blower motor that was no longer available anywhere, on a commercial system, with the air conditioning down. Andrew tracked down a fix and got it running again rather than telling her the unit was done.
New installs and heat pumps are the other half of the work, including ductless and mini-split systems for additions, garages and older homes where running new ductwork isn't practical. Whichever direction a job goes, repair or replace, we walk through both before deciding, the same way we would for our own house.
Chapter 03
Commercial cooling is a design job
A restaurant, a school and an office building don't cool the same way, and treating them like they do is how commercial AC work goes wrong. We handle design-build for rooftop units, chillers and cooling towers, hydronic and process chilling systems, energy recovery and the controls that tie it together.
That's a different scope than swapping a residential condenser: it starts with what the building actually needs to move and where the heat load comes from, then sizes and lays out the equipment to match. It's the same crew and the same shop on State Street, working at a different scale.
